Mad Goat Lady….getting madder by the day!

mesmblog.jpg

Now..where to begin….hmmmm.. Ok, I am a forty something AUSTRALIAN lady (yes, a mad one) who feels like she is 80 most days due to a chronic illness or three! (Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia)

I have good days when I feel I can take on the world and then others when bed seems the only option. I am the mother of two (only one still at home though) and the wife of one.

This is my second go at the whole marriage merry-go-round and I am finally finding out what it is like to be loved and cherished thanks to The English Toy Boy.

Due to my health problems I am unable to work so I spend quite a lot of time on the computer, reading, complaining and caring for the myriad of animals-that-had-no-home that I seem to have collected over the years.

These are my daily ramblings, animal pictures, favourite recipes and hopefully even sometimes there will be a few funny bits to keep you coming back to check and see what the mad, Aussie woman is up to next!

For those of you who have been wondering how I got the name Mad goat lady.….

Well yes I do own several goats..but it was one of my earlier goats that has now gone to the great goat home in the sky that was involved in my naming.

The goat in question was called Spirit…I am not sure if I have told Spirit’s story before, but basically TETB was working on a goat farm and Spirit had just been born and was rejected by her mother..the farmer told TETB that he could take the goat home and try and save it if he liked but that he didn’t hold out much hope for her.

So he brought her home and dumped her, after birth and all onto my bed and told me,“There see what you can do with that!” I rustled up a babies bottle and a hot water bottle and from that moment forward Spirit, as she was soon known, thought I was her mother.

Spirit and I had a close relationship..she would even climb into my car and come into town to see the vet. People would stop and stare at this strange woman unloading a goat from her small hatchback car (hey I had had a cow in there previous..if only they had known…….you can read about that HERE )…in the main street of town.

So there you go..pretty fitting really, I do love goats and I am quite mad (as in the insane mad …not the angry mad).

Mind you, I collect animals that have been dumped and give them a life of complete luxury, so I could quite easily be the Mad cat lady, Mad cow lady or the Mad dog lady…I would proudly answer to them all :)

I also have goats (angora) and in addition to them I have sheep and an angora bunny, three cats (all strays that showed up. As you might have guessed I spin their fiber and knit. I also have, not one, but two teenage sons. We often have various animals in the back of the truck but we don’t get looked ta too badly as this is farm country. We also have a choc lab.

Stop by my blogs, I have three, one farm, one outdoor NY and one gizmos.

I love the story about Spirit - goats are so amazing aren’t they. You should check out

If I somehow buggered the link, you can find it in the “I diggit ” on the sidebar of my blog. She’s got a large herd of LaManchas and some really sweet stories. (Take your tissues to the computer!)
    Take care!

It was great to hear your story. I also found out what it is to be loved and cherished second time round just before my 40th bday. Im now 50 and its still wonderful, having that special person to share the ups and downs. And when yor sick there can be a lot of downs. As long as you can also share lots of laughs too. Its all good.
