Mad Goat Lady

And getting madder by the day!

Home from hospital.

Posted on September 8, 2008 - Filed Under Health, General

Well here we are home at last! Thank goodness…I don’t do hospitals very well LOL.

To add to my ever increasing list of health problems, I now have septic arthritis to add to the list. I cooked up a very impressive looking big toe (pics of that at a later date as they are on Cal’s phone)

I now have a permanent central line fitted so that I can be hooked up to IV antibiotics 24/7 for at least the next 7 weeks.

I am lucky enough to have the community nurses visit me everyday Monday to Friday to attend to my line and to re-attach a new bottle of antibiotics daily and also to see to my icky wounds, but unfortunately they don’t work weekends so that means I have to head back in to the hospital on Saturday and Sunday for it all to be done in there.

I am looking a little like a patchwork quilt at the moment…

But, a few bruises are the least of my worries..I think it has taken a scare like this latest one for me to get a better grip on reality and for me to stop living in a world of denial and realize just how precarious things are with my health and for me to see that I have to face facts and stop kidding myself.

I am so grateful to medical advancements that have allowed me to continue my IV therapy at home…I would have gone even more insane if I had to have spent the whole time in hospital whilst on the antibiotics. Now I have my trusty IV friend attached to me at all times which can be a little restricting but it is a small price to pay to be home with my devoted boys and four-legged family again.

And fancy …it is even color co-ordinated! See my friend there peeking out of my pocket? During the day I have it in a bumbag that I throw over my shoulder…now that fashion statement can wait for another blog post LOL!

Thanks for all the well wishes, you are all so sweet!

I will try to update as often as I can to let you all know of my progress :)

I couldn’t be more thrilled that you are home. Count on you to make sure that even your bruises are color coordinated! I love you lady, you keep on getting well, you hear?

Hey MGL- you scared us good and proper! Your collection of disorders is not going to fit on the page soon- better knock a few of them off. It must feel much better to be home amongst familiar people and stuff- and the goats! I hope the boys can take over some of the simple routine stuff for you- what happened to them while you were in the “lockup”? Be a good MGL and follow all the right procedures to keep infections out of your line and take your medicine and like it!!
Lots of hugs and good wishes from teh wilds of Adelaide! CCCXXX

It is great to see that you are home again and plurking.

I have to say you have some colourful bruises there and yes they are some what like a patchwork.

Look after yourself and keep getting better.

How awesome that the central line is Purp-ular!! At least the colour makes up for having to have it (you know what I mean!) Now you are definately a fashion statement to all us purple addicts! LOL

Okay hunny I’m rambling now (I’m just so happy you’re okay!). Huge HUGS. Rest up and make them boys your personal slaves…. chocolate on call and all that ;)
