Things not to do …..

…while your husband is giving you an injection!
Today is needle day again, I must say that Wednesdays seem to roll around pretty damn quickly lately…seems just days ago (ok..ok..but not 7!) that I had the last little prick.
I must admit that I am slightly more keen to be poked and prodded with the sharp end of a hypodermic now that the new medication ENBREL actually seems to be working (after 7 weeks of agony, tears and tantrums!)
Apparently the secret to the administering of this liquid acid life-changing medicine is to leave it out of the fridge for a little while before giving it and this is supposed to take away the breath- takingly (made that word up I think) pain that the recipient feels as it courses through the veins.
Well..guess what? This week I don’t think we left it out anywhere near long enough.
TETB did all the preparations (hand washing, needle flicking and drawing etc..swab collecting and I did my preparations (parking my big bum on the bed, whining, moaning, declaring “I don’t want a stupid needle this week..get it away from me”, so just my usual routine really…LOL )
Taking absolutely no notice of my nonsense pleas TETB told me to keep quite and got down to the job at hand. But this time, thanks to the not long enough leaving out of the fridge problem things went from bad to worse very quickly. It felt like I had a river of hot molten lava being slowly injected into my thigh and started screaming LOUDLY so that the world would know all about it! The screaming started a bad reaction from every canine and feline in the house and they all came running into the bedroom to rescue me from the horrible man that was hurting me. Three dogs and three cats launching themselves onto my already delicate body caused me to scream even louder.
Was TETB concerned for my safety? No! He was just telling me to shut up as he was worried that the neighbours might call the police again and they might come visiting us again in the middle of the night..not sure my heart could stand that again. If you haven’t already you can read about it HERE
Here’s hoping next week’s needle isn’t so freakin awful eventful..stay tuned…..

You are brave. I loathe needles and am a complete and utter pathetic, whining sook.
Sounds like TETB is an excellent nurse, and determined to do the job well. Kudos to him, and the furry friends for being protective!
Ouch!
Fingers crossed next week isn’t as bad.
So glad you are back to blogging and that you are feeling better! J had to give me progesterone shots in the butt when I was preggo with the twins…thick, sesame seed oil based shots…every day for 4 months. I do feel your pain (I could finally sit down again when they were two…..)
Oh P I am glad the animals came to your rescue & didnt run the other way with your screaming. I cant even begin to imagine the pain & discomfort you are in but I am glad to hear the meds are starting to work
Hope it went better this Wednesday just past. Hugs to you!
Not sure what the needles are for but they dont sound like fun.How long do you have to have them?
Dont know what your husband is like but mine would drop to a faint at the sight of a needle. There is no way in hell I would trust him to give me one.You must have one of the tough ones.Hope the time drags till the next one .
