You are incredible and amazing and…

I love you.
Callum is my almost 17 year old son. He has battled severe eczema all over his body since he was a few weeks of age.
He has no idea what it feels like to not be itchy and scaly and constantly agitated. He takes a strict regime of strong drugs such as Prednisone and Cyclosporin to help him cope with life on a day to day basis.
He is extremely lucky to have a fantastic group of friends that understand about his health issues yet treat him just like one of the gang most of the time and rally around and be an amazing support to him when things get tough and he is hospitalized (which is on average several times a year)
It is turning out to be an extremely stressful year for him this year. He is in his final year of schooling and finding it very hard going with such a heavy workload and the problems with his health always hanging over his head. Somehow though he always finds a way through. He is getting really good marks regardless of all the troubles he faces and is busy making plans for his future. He is yet to decide what area to pursue once he finishes school as his health problems will limit this a little. He will not be able to work outside in the elements, or with certain chemicals or materials but I am sure that he will make a wise choice soon and then see it through to the end.
You are an amazing boy Callum and I am so proud of you and yes I am going to say it again…”I love you to bits!”:)

What a lovely commendation - for him, and again for him to have found such friends.
He sounds like a wonderful young man with terrific friends and a fantastic mum
You must be so proud!
Callum with all your wonderful Mum tells about you, you are a wonderful young man that more of todays teens so aspire to be like!!
It sounds as though Callum is triumphing despite his health challenges and I wish him every success. I wanted to let you know of a new non-steroidal treatment availalbe for ezcema called Atopiclair. This new treatment is available over the counter in pharmacies and may be something that Callum could try to help relieve the symptoms of his eczema while also restoring and protecting the skin’s barrier. It is currently available in Pulse and Chemmart pharmacies.
What a wealth of pride that post oozed, and justly so
What a gorgeous post. You must be so proud - well, I can tell you are - and rightly so!
My eldest is 16, and although he’s had a few issues lately - I feel pretty much as you do about Callum.
Somewhere along the line, we did good with our boys, you and I. Though a lot of credit goes to them and the people they are too.
Thanks everyone…yes he is a very special boy and it does give me a warm fuzzy feeling to know that I have actually done *something* right as far as parenting goes
What a beautiful post Patric. Callum sounds like a very genuine loving boy. You must be very proud of him! (Well, I know you are) You must be a very good mum.
You definite did “something” right! Tell him how much we wish both of you happiness and improved health. Hugs to you both.
Eczema is so hard isn’t it? Miss E has eczema bit not as extreme as Callum’s, but bad enough for her to need several rounds of antibiotics a year for when she is so sore that infection occurs. Yesterday she had a reaction to something in her friend’s garden and her eyes swelled shut and her skin was on fire. We just showered her for half an hour, gave her antihistamine and held her. She was sobbing that she didn’t want eczema anymore and that she’d had enough and my heart nearly broke.
Callum just sounds so amazing and I’m sure he will do whatever he sets out to do.
Hope you’re ok by the way.
