Stand by your ham!

Is Stand by your Ham set to be the latest worldwide pop sensation?
Pig farmers from across the UK have recorded a new single as part of the campaign to raise awareness of their fight for fairer prices for their pigs.
The song, ‘Stand by your Ham’ is based on the Tammy Wynette 1968 classic ‘Stand by your Man’ and was recorded in a London studio by a group of 30 farmers.
The lyrics of the original song have been reworked to reflect the crisis that the pig industry is currently facing. This is due to massive increases in feed prices caused by rocketing world wheat prices. The majority of farmers are now selling every pig they rear at a loss of up to £26. The industry as a whole faces potential losses of £200 million in the next year.
If you visit HERE you can view video footage of the song and I will even include the lyrics for you so you can sing along.
Stand by your Ham.
Right now it’s hard to make a living
Rearing all your pigs for pork and Ham
Supermarkets make all the money
We don’t make any money
And that’s quite hard to understand
But if they gave us a little more money
Gave us farmers, a fairer share.
Coz we take good care of our pigs
We’re so proud of them
To us they’re more than pork and ham
Stand by your ham.
Sau-sa-ges, Pork And Bacon
Help us to stay in business
Because, our pigs, are worth it.
Stand by your ham.
Sau-sa-ges, Pork And Bacon
Keep givin’ all the help you can
Stand by your ham
So if you love your British breakfast
The crackling on your Sunday roast
Keep asking for local produce
We work hard to bring it to you
Look for our Mark on pork and ham
Stand by your ham.
Sau-sa-ges, Pork And Bacon
Help us to stay in business
Because, our pigs, are worth it.
Stand by your ham.
Sau-sa-ges, Pork And Bacon
Look for the Mark whenever you can
Stand by your ham
Stand by your ham.
Sau-sa-ges, Pork And Bacon
Look for the Mark whenever you can
Stand by your ham

I’m about to stand by my ham, right next to it as I’m frying it in the skillet.
LOL this post brings to mind that episode of the Simpsons when Lisa becomes a vegetarian …
Homer: Wait a minute wait a minute wait a minute. Lisa honey, are you saying you’re *never* going to eat any animal again? What about bacon?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Ham?
Lisa: No.
Homer: Pork chops?
Lisa: Dad! Those all come from the same animal!
Homer: [Chuckles] Yeah, right Lisa. A wonderful, magical animal.
Wonderful, magical animal indeed :hehe:
Oops just realised the c&p quote makes me look like one of those spammy (spam?! that comes from pigs, kind of, doesn’t it?) commenters.
But is spam really ham? Or is it fake ham, hence spam? Because why wouldn’t it just be called ham in a can, rather than spam? The mind truly boggles.
LOL - poor little pigs and poor farmers. The supermarkets are the only ones making the profit.
