Stop typing so loudly!

This is a complaint I had been hearing quite frequently from TETB and son.
“Typing too loudly?” I can hear you all asking yourselves, and I have been asking MYself the very same question.
Apparently (according to my two members of the typing police) I hit the keys on the keyboard too hard thus disturbing them both with my constant click, click, clicking.
The only reason I can think of for this terrible crime of mine is that when I was taught to type in high school (yes, back in the olden days) I was taught on a lumbering, great, clanking contraption, more like something you would see these days on the Antiques Roadshow than in an office. You know the type with the big silver bar jutting out of the top that you had to hit at the end of each row in order to return you to the next line…bringing back any memories for any of you?
Anyway, God forbid that I should disturb the pair of them any longer, I went out and purchased myself a flexible keyboard.
According to the blurb, the flexible keyboard offers..
quick, reflexive typing action that is not only silent, but also more comfortable than standard hard plastic keyboards. It eliminates negative-angle wrist stress, an unfortunate and impractical holdover from the archaic days of manual typewriters.
The silicon-based material is impervious to most liquids including water, coffee and cleaning solutions.
It is dust and contaminant proof. It is also space saving as it can be rolled up making it very portable.
I am still trying to work out why anyone would want to roll it up, it’s beyond me..and get this bit..you can even throw it in the washing machine, how’s that for a selling point?
So from now on folks I can promise silent typing..whish i cood say teh same for typos thouhg!

I must admit the only time I get complaints is when I take the laptop to bed - have no idea why it sounds so much louder in there LOL. I’ve never seen the flexible keyboards before though - do they come in different sizes or is there just one sort? My kids need it more than me though - I am very gentle - honest
Yes Barbara you can get mini ones as well

I’m laughing at the idea of someone typing too loudly. I can’t say that it ever occurred to me. I’ve never been on your site before and can’t even remember how I got here, but I had no idea there was such a keyboard and I’m totally interested–the biggest appeal is that it can be washed. Crazy!
I actually did have a job where I used a typewriter. Eventually they gave me a computer to use but some forms still required a typewriter. Your new keyboard looks like fun, and what’s not to love about something you can toss into a washer. I suppose if you had a laptop that went places with you it would be handy to roll up.
That is the neatest thing. And yes, I get “tsk’d” from my husband who sits trying to watch t.v. and all he can hear is tap tap tap, click.
How is that flex keyboard working out? Maybe I should look into getting one too
I learned on the same type of typewriter and when I got my first computer keyboard I hit the keys so hard I would have letter double and triple in some places. The word spot would look like this ssspppoottt. I had to learn to hit the keys a lot lighter. It was frustrating to begin with. I still can hear the keys as I strike them but I don’t get the multiple letters any more.
in my old house, my computer was in the same room as the lounge room and tele … typing too loud was an often complaint - except it was me complaining my son was typing too loudly!! he certainly didn’t learn on a type writer … i guess its just that tickticktick tick tick tick space tick sound that creeps in to a bystander’s consciousness and sticks there! one of those sounds ….
did the flexi board decrease the noise?
