Mad Goat Lady

And getting madder by the day!

I am such a talent!

Who knew!?

All I have to do is glance at a plant from fifty paces and I can pretty much guarantee that it will soon be dead.

Hubby reckons he knows just how these plants feel as he too has been on the receiving end of some of these ‘looks’.

I am really not sure where my talent comes from. My father has one of those enviable green thumbs where he can plant a stick in the ground and end up with an award winning rose bush and my late grandfather was known for miles around the district for his glorious flowers and abundant vegetable garden, the produce from which fed families from far and wide.

I was thinking that I could hire myself out to kill off noxious weeds in other people’s gardens, but it seems weeds are the only thing I am able to grow without a problem…in fact they seem to flourish no matter how many glances I give them.

I am starting to get such a complex about this talent of mine that I am seriously thinking of telling friends to hide their house plants before I come over to visit.

This is why…here is one I prepared (killed!) earlier.

You are hilarious. I love the plant a stick in the ground part. I’m fortunate in that I can grow plants. I inherited it from my father’s mom. She used to take us to the zoo, and spend the whole time looking at all the plants! Anyway, try a “pothos.” I’ve never known anyone to kill one of these unless they completely neglect it. Just water it. And the grape ivy in the picture above is a bit persnickety. So I’m thinking your 50 pace glance wasn’t as bad as you say. Thanks for the laugh. And have you tried those chocolate cookies yet? We still have a bit of the ice cream in our freezer and it’s so hard one of us will have to stick our face in the container and lick it out. But my goodness. We all have hairy chests now from the decadent intensity of that chocolate. Truly!

Thanks Kelly…You are clever knowing that the plant was a grape ivy..(could have been a palm tree to me if I hadn’t have read the tag..LOL)

Now those chocolate cookies ..mmmm did you have to bring those up again? I have really been trying hard to watch what I have been eating and I am afraid that doesn’t include those ..which I have truly been dreaming about…darn it I am going to have to go back to that page and have another drool before the day is out ..I just know it!

I can sypathize! I’ve got parents that can grow gorgeous flowers, abundant vegetables, overflowing hanging baskets. Me? I planted a perennial garden last year with hundreds of bulbs. So far, a grand total of 3 species have broken the surface. The rest of the garden looks desolate!

I have the same talent with houseplants…now they just scream and dry up as soon as I cross the threshhold with them. Outside I do much better….I don’t know why. Maybe because it rains periodically and the plants get watered in spite of me. And if you read my site lately, you might want to try your hand at a zucchini….. I can send you some of my nuclear seeds ;-P

I love the way you can laugh at yourself! I don’t garden because my particular talent is lack of patience but the inevitable slowing down of the body and brain may just resolve that! :) Keep planting, the odds of success must sprout in your favour soon. x
